Jackson, June 9th 1975 (8:30 P.M. Show)

"Now don't be so rough on the people when they come down here, they're just coming down and get scarves, don't treat them like they're goin' to jail, goddamn it!"

This remark is the most spectacular happening on the evening of June 9th, 1975, in Jackson, Mississippi. The comment can be found on the CD Cut 'Em Down To Size, a soundboard recording in an imitation Bilko longbox cover (and I'm just talking about the size of the sleeve).
This features mostly a complete Jackson show, the first three tracks are stolen from the DAE CD 'Let Me Take You Home' simply because they were not recorded. The shows were almost the same, so that's understandable, but why steal out of the blue 'Jambalaya' from Fort Baxter's 'A Profile Box' ? Beats me. The booklet tries to let us know that this one's also recorded in Jackson, but due to a 'mistake' on the original tape, they took the Lake Charles version here...
Yeah whatever.
Elvis sounds just here and there inspired, and most of the time a talks himself through the show. A lot of songs are also done that way, and that's a pity. He seems to be irritated somehow.
And on the spare moments he seems to have found the right input, it goes wrong on another level.
Example: A very well done version of American Trilogy gets really infected and blown away by an instrumental orchestra solo, which is really out of tune!
His irritation really comes forward when Elvis remarks the security, as quoted above. He really gets lovely fresh with them when they send 'his' fans a little roughly back to their chairs.
Precisely one day later he's performing in Memphis and exactly one week after Jackson Elvis reports himself at the Baptist Memorial. The tour has ended.
